He had finished fourth in the trials race at Bolton where the first three to finish automatically qualified for the team but the fourth member was selected based on current form at the selector's discretion.
Even though he had won the Kendal Winter League Under 16s, come third in the England Championship race at Wrekin and won the Under 16s Cat Bell fell race in recent weeks, the deciding factor in his selection must have been his victory on Sunday in the Dallam Dash Fun run!
