Kendal Winter League - Fairmile Fell Race

It doesn't get much better than this, writes John Hodgson; a superb setting, barmy February weather and good competitive performances from our juniors again.

In the U 12's Ben Till came a creditable 2nd whilst Wilf Goodfellow twisted his ankle on the way down and came back in an unconventional manner!

Dallam provided all the girls in the U 14's race, but they were still able to compete well against their male rivals. Melanie, Robin, Jane and Reanne finished in that order, while Sam Till and Dean Sutton were 5th and 6th /14 in the boys race.

The highlight of the afternoon came in the U 17's, where at the end of the long climb Alex Till was 50 metres behind the leader. On the downhill stretch, he seemed to have an extra gear overtaking his rival to win by a good margin. Not to be outdone, our most improved runner (after Helen Deason ), Cathy Gill, came storming down the hill to finish 4th/9 in the U 17s girls race.

The most excited runner of the day though was Dawn Gill in the Senior's race, who was so thrilled because she was not last! Well done to all.
