KWL Barbon Fell Race - 11/2/2007

John Hodgson writes

As the gradients get steeper, the desire and determination of runners is put to the test.
It was the foolhardy and the brave who turned up to the `v` shaped valley leading from Barbon to Dent on Sunday. You can make an effort to run the first 50metres or so,but it quickly turns into a tiring hands on knees job before turning to do a vicious downhill. Still, five of our juniors turned out and did extremely well.
In the U 12`s Dale Sutton and Ben Till fought each other for 2nd place;Dale leading on the climb only to be caught just before the finish again! Ben is making a habit of this.

The three runners in the U14`s had more climbing to do; Sam Till and Dean Sutton both worked hard to finish 3rd and 5th respectively whilst there were only two girls in the same race and one of them was Melanie. Say no more; she lowered her record set last year by a further 11 seconds.

Also noted, a new member, Dennis Nelson is making good progress up the Senior ranks each week.
