Notes from the Club AGM 18/1/2012

There was a good turnout at the AGM.

Membership of the club continues to increase. Most renewed their subscriptions fairly promptly last year which meant less time and effort chasing late payers.
2012 subscriptions remain at the same (very cheap!) rate. Please try to renew as quickly again this year.
2012 MEMBERSHIP FORM
A reminder that new members who joined from 1st September 2011 are paid up until 31st December 2012.

Club Finances remain in a healthy state even though some of the income from our three races was diverted to our 2011 chosen charity ,St John's Hospice Lancaster.

Our races in 2012

Dallam Dash 10K - John Leech and Martin Gardiner have taken over as the coordinators for this race. It's preparation is more than a two man job so they will need two or three more members to join the organising team. Please contact John on 015395 33344 or email john.leech@btconnect.com to volunteer.

20 Barriers Race - this evening race continues to attract a good turnout but the numbers staying on later for the prize giving and food have dwindled. This year's race on 3rd July 2012 will follow a simpler format with prizes handed out to the first 3 men and first 3 women as they cross the line and there will be no presentation or food afterwards.

Eaves Wood Trail Races - arrangements are having to be reviewed now that the race venue is open all year round for touring caravans ( race day used to be in the winter closed season)- however it's hoped that the race can continue so please watch for further updates.

The money raised from races is an important source of income for the club as it helps to subsidise membership fees as well as feeding into our chosen charity. All help towards the pre race organising and on the day is much appreciated.

Club Places for the London Marathon
As rejection slips are received before the end of October the allocation date for the club's places will be moved forward to late October/early November (rather than delaying things until the Xmas Run which is only two weeks before the entry deadline) - watch for further updates.

Our Chosen Charity - this 2011 initiative proved successful ,not only in terms of raising over £1000 for St John's Hospice Lancaster but by also adding to the club's activities eg a cross bay run ,orienteering evening, and a clay pigeon shoot.
The club's 2012 chosen charity is the Multiple Sclerosis Society .Mick Pearcy is our charity coordinator.
Please come forward with your money raising ideas and offers to organise events for 2012.
