The venue is Mayfield on Carr Bank Road, between Sandside and
Arnside. This is an occasion when all junior and senior Dallam members
(and partners ) are invited. The juniors get to run a route looking for
'hidden goodies' on the way, whilst the Seniors and older juniors ,if
they wish, take a route which is a lot of the Beetham Sports Fell Race
course over the Fairy Steps and Dallam Park.
The intention is to try and set off at 7pm not be arriving at 7pm.
The usual format is for everyone to bring their sausages, buns, drink
and a tray bake if possible. The food is handed in before you leave on
your run and should be cooking or cooked before you return. We hope for
good weather but there is a gazebo and outdoor heating if it is wet
and/or cold.
It has been one of the best social occasions in our calendar in the past
where the achievements of our juniors are recognised and brought to
your note. All juniors who haven't been able to compete in the Winter
League but who have attended the Sports Hall training sessions have to
turn out to get their prizes. Mums, dads et al are welcome, but if not
running may be given jobs.
A few guests have been invited;
Erin Proctor (Howgill Harriers), is trying to
raise funds to allow her to go this summer to South America to help in
some form of charity work and has been busy baking to sell her produce
at the Winter League venues. I thought if everyone could bring £1 on the
night for a raffle ticket to try and win one of the two cakes she will
bring , it would help her a lot.
Wendy Dodds ( Clayton-le Moors), the prima-donna
of women's fell racing is hoping to attend. This year she has kindly
donated lots of her medals which have been tweaked for our juniors,(last
year it was her surplus of t-shirts) but be warned, don't wear red
Dallam vests on the night as she can't tolerate being behind one!
