Dallam Camping Trip... and Wainwright Challenge combo!
Friday 2nd - Sunday 4th of September.
Ennerdale Scout Camp.... in the heart of Wainwright country!
Hello Folks,
So it is official... The Dallam Wainwright Challenge and the Ennerdale camping weekend shall combine - great fun!!
Pretty soon we will have a sign up form/map where you can pledge your help and efforts with the Wainwright Challenge... keep an eye on your emails and the club website for details.
And I need to know numbers please for those who may also wish to camp.
Please note... You can take part in the Wainwright Challenge without camping... but it will be loads of fun if lots of us can combine the two.
We have exclusive use of the Scout Camp and you can choose to camp in your own tent, or in your campervan or you can sleep in the big chalet building which has a variety of rooms. (twins with ensuite and 4 -6 beds in others) These can be allocated on a first come first served basis if indoors is your preference.
The costs will depend upon numbers attending the site as this year we have to include a nights rental of the common room. Costs will not be prohibitive tho.... if we get 20 campers the cost will be less than £26.75 per head for the two nights. And the cost will come down the more visitors we get!
Here are the clear costs.
Camping in tent or van £6.20 per person per night
Room/bed in Chalet, £10.15 per person per night.
Hire of Common Room £287 per night. (This is the shared cost)
A condition of exclusive use of the site is that we hire the indoor common room one of the nights too and we plan to do this on the Saturday evening. This will hopefully be a celebratory get together night where we pour over the feats of our daytime wainwright endeavours... and maybe we'll have a bit of fun too... campfire sing song, jiving dancing, quiz, ... the possibilities are endless!
This is what Jenny had to say about the wainwright challenge…
"An idea has been floated, about us (as a club) attempting to visit all 214 Wainwright summits within the same 24-hour period - big challenge but I'm sure we're up to it! At the moment we're just trying to see how many folk might be interested in joining in, so if you are, drop Jenny a line! If there's enough interest and people are around, it might work well to do our Dallam Wainwrights attempt on the camping weekend, since a big bunch of us will already be over on that side of the Lakes :) "
Ask your family, ask your friends.... All are welcome.
If you are interested in the camping please email me debbiesshed@gmail.com with the number in your party and which type of accommodation you require.
Here... for old times sake.... how we have done it in the past...
Cheers all
